Dear all,

Please pen your reflections in the 'Comments' column by end of the lesson. It should be related to the learning, skills, activities or the competition.

  1. Coming up with the idea was quite interesting as we had to think on how we could improve on what was existing or think about what people want and need but cannot get easily. Thinking about how our product would be marketed was also a challenge, as this is a new experience. The re-learning of SCAMPER helped with our concept design as well.

  3. Through the many I&E lessons, it was almost all about making good business. However, when I went for this camp, I was really able to put myself in the position of an entrepreneur. During some of the presentations and a bazaar, one could really understand where he stands in the business world. I truly understood what I would could improve if I had a real stall. This was a fruitful experience for me.

  4. I have learnt a lot from this camp including how to market one's idea to attract attention. I also learnt that planning is very important. Fail to plan is plan to fail. The 4 "p" are also very important. This is one of the most enjoyable camp I've had and wish to attend such camps again.

  6. To come up with the ideas we first have to find out a problem, upgrade a existing product and what people want(trend) but hard to find. Then we though about the aspect of promotion and how we would market it.
We learn that everything is a business opportunity.

  7. I find the camp extremely educating and fun at the same time. It was a great way to express our ideas to the school. I enjoyed the camp a lot as it allows us to work alone in a room with my friends, sleeping in a comfortable room and having such awesome food to eat! We did not even need to beg for it like the last camp. I really hope we get to have more camps like these in the future.

  9. During the I&E Camp at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, I have learnt so many strategies and plans on how to create and maintain a successful business. The planning of how to start up your own business is very important as a bad plan means that you plan to do bad in the business. Also the strategies of improving your business and maintaining them are also as important when you plan to have a very successful business.
The activities conducted were very exciting and interesting. They test our knowledge of entrepreneurship and also see how good we are at starting up a business.
This camp was very exciting and I would like to have a similar camp.

  10. In Ngee Ann Poly, I learnt a lot of things about business that I did not expect to learn. I also learnt how big businesses go and how they earn profit. To do business, you should maintain it properly and make sure it goes well. You should also follow the 4Ps (Price, Place, Promotion and Product) so that the business would be successful. Serious planning is also essential.

The activities they asked us to do were fun, like trying to come out with a new product, and asking us to present to people in the same group as us. It was fun knowing what other ideas other groups had.

The winning teams' presentations were very good and creative, also feasible.

Overall, the camp was fun and not as boring as I thought it would be. I hoped the camp was longer and I would like to learn more things.

  12. The I&E Camp at Ngee Ann Poly was great. The fact that we were able to sleep in the hostel was nice and we were given some freedom on our own at night. Most of the lectures were quite helpful and the excursion really helped. But there should have been something very fun in the morning to wake us up. Now business seems much easier to do than I thought.

  13. I like the part when we have to come out with ideas for future products as we have to think on what we have to improve on and what we will have to modify and change the entire thing. We also revised on SCAMPER which helped us to design our concept of our 'nAble', a universal wristband.

  14. The InE camp was fun. The mentors were really kind and friendly. I learnt how to prepare for presentations and I learnt more presentation skills. It was a nice experience to be given the freedom to be responsible for yourself and your belongings. It was a bit scary to present in front of people who you don't know. I enjoyed the lectures as they were insightful and interesting. All in all, the camp was really fun and I really enjoyed it.

  16. The E2 camp was short and interesting. We attended lectures on the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. They were lengthy, but there were some useful facts to apply in future. During the lectures, I took down notes. I was unable to write down some of the information as the slides proceeded too quickly.
The competition was not easy. In my camp group, we had difficulty thinking up an idea to work on. When we finally thought up an idea, we found out with the assistance of "Lemon", our group mentor, that our idea was not applicable in Singapore, but in other countries. Our idea, in the end, was okay.
Our time at the loft was short, but fun. I had trouble travelling in the lift as many students wanted to use it too. The rooms were fairly comfortable.
The food was acceptable, and some dishes were tasty.
I learnt a number of important things in business, like the components of a business plan, and the significance of finding the best location for a shop.

  18. At Ngee Ann Poly I learnt more about business and the planning process. I thought business was only all about gaining profit and calculating the loss. The 4ps (Price, Promotion, Place and Product) are essential to the business planning.

Even though my group did not win, watching the winning teams presentation, it was really good and they deserve to win.

Overall I had an enjoyable and enriching experience there and would hope to attend such camps in the future.

  19. Overall, the 2 days and 1 night camp has been quite a fun learning journey for me! The camp was full of hands on activities for us to better improve our business and marketing skills, it was also quite engaging and educational too! I learnt a lot of skills required in the art of business and marketing, such as how to attract more customers with the prices of the product, the product itself and also the shop.

The activities are also very fun. I am very thankful towards the trainers, lecturers and the teachers for organizing such fun, engaging and educational activities for us! I benefitted a lot from those activities too! Such as the learning journey to the Hangout Cafe.

The competition was tough but quite beneficial for me as I had gained a lot of experiences and lessons from it!

I hope that there would be more of these camps in the future!

The activities were fun and easy to learn. It was entertaining and taught us a big lesson, if we want to make our business successful. They have taught the criteria, the finance, the strategic location, etc. The competition was tough but the prizes were worth having or sharing for. There was humor in the camp wherever you go, it was great, except for the fact that time was not enough to satisfy us.The lectures may be boring, but those who want to learn, has a great possibility of bringing up a successful business. The mentors were extremely friendly and fun to play with.Overall, it was wonderful.
